1. Begin by creating an odd number of chains. You can use as many chains as you would like, as long as it is an odd number.

3. Chain one.
4. Skip the next chain in the foundation chain and add a half double crochet into the next chain. This will create a chain-space. This is a large opening we will use to make the feather stitch.
