Tunisian Tips

Tunisian crochet is different from standard crochet and uses a few different stitches from standard crochet. The technique is very fun, and if you haven’t tried Tunisian crochet, you definitely should.

For this pattern, you will need to know the Tunisian simple stitch and the slip stitch. You will also need to understand what yarn over means in terms of crochet.

Special Techniques or Stitches you will need to know are the “end stitch”, the “make 1-top bar” and the “Tunisian Simple Stitch 3 Together.”

The End Stitch

The end stitch is made by inserting the hook under the last vertical loop and the bar exactly behind it, which creates TWO loops on the hook. YARN OVER and bring up another loop. This should leave ONE loop on the hook and create the end stitch.

The Make 1-Top Bar

Find the horizontal bar before the next stitch and insert the hook under the top loop. YARN OVER. Then draw up the loop and leave extra loop on the hook.

The Tunisian Simple Stitch 3 Together

For the Tunisian Simple Stitch 3 Together you will insert the hook into the next THREE stitches. YARN OVER. Then draw up the loop. This should leave ONE loop on the hook.
