Just as with many other crochet stitches, there are several variations of the chevron crochet stitch. In this chevron crochet stitch tutorial, we will show you how to complete the basic chevron crochet stitch using single crochet.

Chevron Crochet Tutorial:

  1. Begin by crocheting a foundation chain. It needs to be in a multiple of 11 + 2. An example would be (2 x 11) 22 + 2 = 24.
  2. Start by creating a single crochet into the 2nd stitch from the hook.
  3. Add one more single crochet into the same stitch. This will give you 2 single crochets in one chain stitch.
  4. Single crochet into the next 4 stitches.
  5. Skip 2 chain stitches.
  6. Add single crochet into the next 4 stitches.
  7. In the next chain add 3 single crochets.
  8. Single crochet into the next 4 stitches.
  9. Skip 2 chain stitches and single crochet into the next 4 stitches.
  10. Add a 2nd single crochet into the last chain stitch.
  11. Chain one and turn your work.
  12. Repeat steps 2-11, working into the previous row’s stitches.
  13. Continue repeating steps 2-11 until you have the length you desire.
  14. Bind off your work.

Now that you know how to create the basic chevron crochet stitch, you can try the raised chevron stitch. You can use this same pattern to create a thicker look. To do this, starting at step 12, crochet into the back loop only instead of both loops.
