Even though you need to repeat 4 rows to make the pattern show in this stitch, you surely won’t have a hard time learning how to make them since you’ll only be using the basic crochet stitches. But you have to be consistent with your stitches, make sure they are not too tight or too loose. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but your effort will be worth the incredible design you’ll be able to create!

Larksfoot Crochet Instructions

To start making the Larksfoot Stitch, you have to chain in multiples of 4 + 1.

Row 1

Double crochet on the 4 chain from the hook. The chain 3 will be considered as the first double crochet. Double crochet on the next two stitches. Chain 1, skip 1 stitch. * Double crochet in the next three stitches. Chain 1, skip 1 stitch.* Repeat this pattern until the last three stitches. Double crochet in the last 3 stitches. 

Row 2

Chain 3, and turn your work. Double crochet in the next two stitches. *Chain 1, skip 1, double crochet in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat this pattern until the last 3 stitches. Double crochet in the last 3 stitches. 

Row 3

Chain 4, turn your work. This will count as a double crochet, and a chain. Skip 1 stitch, double crochet in the next stitch. Double crochet in the chain 1 space one row below (Row 1). Double crochet in the next stitch. 

*Chain 1, skip 1 stitch. Double crochet in the next stitch. Then double crochet in the chain space one row below. Double crochet in the next stitch.* Repeat this pattern until the last 2 stitches in the row. Chain 1, skip 1. Double crochet in the last stitch.

Row 4

Chain 4, turn your work. *Skip 1 stitch, double crochet in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat this pattern until you reach the last 2 stitches. Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, and double crochet in the last stitch. 

Row 5

Chain 3, turn your work. Make a double crochet in the chain space one row below (Row 3). Double crochet in the next stitch, chain 1, skip stitch. 

*Double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the chain space one row below. Double crochet in the next stitch, chain 1, skip next stitch. * Repeat this pattern until the last 3 stitches. Double crochet in the next stitch, Double crochet in the chain space one row below, then double crochet in the last stitch. 

Row 6

Repeat Row 2.

Repeat Rows 2 to 5, until you reach your desired length.
